Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 10 pieces fresh strawberries, hulled
  • As needed cornstarch or potato starch for dusting

Instructions

  1. Mix the glutinous rice flour, sugar, and water until smooth in a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and microwave for 1 minute.
  3. Stir the mixture thoroughly, then microwave for an additional 1 to 2 minutes until the dough thickens and becomes translucent.
  4. Dust a clean surface with cornstarch or potato starch, then carefully transfer the mochi dough onto it.
  5. Allow the dough to cool slightly before kneading it gently with additional cornstarch to prevent sticking.
  6. Divide the dough into small pieces, flatten each piece, and place a fresh strawberry in the center.
  7. Wrap the dough around the strawberry, then shape it into a round ball.
  8. Roll the finished mochi in cornstarch to prevent stickiness.

Notes

Let the mochi dough cool slightly before handling. You can substitute cornstarch with potato starch for dusting.
