- 2 cans (28 ounces each) Crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon Dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional) to taste
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat until hot.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper, mixing well.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat and let it cook for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Adjust the seasoning further if needed, then remove from heat.
- Serve over your favorite pasta and sprinkle with fresh basil if desired.
Notes
Let it simmer longer for a richer flavor. Use fresh tomatoes for a fresher taste.
