Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Strawberry jam
  • 2 cups Heavy whipping cream
  • Fresh strawberries for topping, As needed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the milk and vanilla, blending until well combined.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture gradually, mixing until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. Spread a layer of strawberry jam over one cake layer.
  10. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form and spread it over the jam layer before adding the second cake layer.
  11. Repeat the jam and cream layering with the second layer.
  12. Decorate the top with fresh strawberries before serving.

Notes

Allow cakes to cool completely before frosting. You can use different fruit jams for variety.
