- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, browned
- 3 medium ripe bananas, mashed
- 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 cups (220g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (120g) chopped toasted walnuts
Instructions
- Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring frequently until it turns golden brown and smells nutty, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
- Mash the ripe bananas in a large mixing bowl until mostly smooth but slightly chunky.
- Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas. Mix well until fully incorporated.
- Pour the cooled brown butter into the banana mixture while stirring to combine.
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped toasted walnuts until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool the bread in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
Use ripe bananas with brown spots for maximum sweetness. For variations, try adding vanilla extract, cinnamon, or nutmeg.
