These Grilled BBQ Chicken Drumsticks are juicy, sticky, and ideal for any casual gathering. They’re easy to make and full of flavor!

Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 pounds chicken drumsticks
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (or regular paprika)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • 3/4 to 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite)
  • Optional: a pinch of chili flakes or cayenne for heat

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium heat.
  2. Pat the drumsticks dry and toss them in a bowl with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and any optional spices you like.
  3. Oil the grill grates lightly and place drumsticks on the grill.
  4. Grill for about 25 to 35 minutes, turning every 6 to 8 minutes.
  5. Brush on BBQ sauce when the drumsticks are close to done, in the last 5 to 8 minutes.
  6. Check doneness using a meat thermometer (internal temp of 165 F), or pierce near the bone and look for clear juices.
  7. Let them rest for about 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a glossy finish, add one more quick brush of sauce right after they come off the grill, ensuring to use a clean brush.
