Ingredients

  • 1 bunch fresh asparagus
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 cloves sliced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon dill seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Trim the asparagus to fit snugly into your jar.
  2. Combine white vinegar, water, salt, and sugar in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat until dissolved.
  3. Remove from heat and add sliced garlic, red pepper flakes, and optional dill seeds into the hot brine.
  4. Packing the asparagus into the jar, pour the hot brine over it, making sure each spear is fully submerged.
  5. Cool to room temperature, then seal and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving.

Notes

For best results, use fresh asparagus and let the flavors develop for at least 24 hours in the refrigerator.
