- 1 teaspoon baking soda

- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup (150g) brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: Flaky sea salt for topping
Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients and let the unsalted butter and large eggs sit at room temperature.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Using a mixer, beat the softened butter until smooth. Gradually add in both sugars and cream together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then add the vanilla extract.
- Slowly mix in the flour mixture until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula.
- Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
- Optional: Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top before baking.
Notes
Store any remaining cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
