A simple yet flavorful Thanksgiving turkey recipe that turns your holiday meal into a warm celebration.

Ingredients

  • Whole Turkey (12-14 lbs)
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Chicken Broth (2 cups)
  • Onion, quartered (1)
  • Carrots, chopped (2)
  • Celery stalks, chopped (2)
  • Fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, sage) to taste
  • Olive oil or melted butter to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove the giblets from the turkey and pat it dry with paper towels.
  3. Generously season the cavity of the turkey with salt and pepper.
  4. Stuff the cavity with quartered onion, chopped carrots, celery, and fresh herbs.
  5. Rub the outside with olive oil or melted butter and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth around it.
  7. Roast the turkey for approximately 13-15 minutes per pound until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  8. Baste the turkey periodically with the broth.
  9. Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days.
