Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract and red food coloring.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, folding gently until combined.
- Cover the bowl and chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
- Scoop the dough into balls and roll them in powdered sugar.
- Place them on prepared baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
If seeking a gluten-free option, substitute all-purpose flour with a 1-to-1 gluten-free flour blend. Adding white chocolate chips or cream cheese can enhance flavor.
