- 1 package Puff pastry sheets
- 1 cup Pumpkin purée
- 1/2 cup Brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Pumpkin pie spice
- 1 Egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon Water
- 1/2 cup Powdered sugar (for icing)
- 1-2 teaspoons Milk or water (to adjust icing)
- Sugar crystals (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets and cut into strips about 1 inch wide.
- Mix pumpkin purée, brown sugar, and pumpkin pie spice until smooth.
- Spread a thin line of the pumpkin filling along each pastry strip.
- Twist the strips to form spirals and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Whisk the egg with 1 tablespoon of water and brush the egg wash over the twists.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown and flaky.
- Prepare the icing by mixing powdered sugar with 1–2 teaspoons of milk or water until smooth. Drizzle the icing over the warm twists.
- Sprinkle sugar crystals on top and allow the icing to set before serving
Notes
Feel free to customize by adding nuts or chocolate chips to the filling. These twists are great served warm with maple syrup.
