Ingredients
Scale
- 8 slices sharp cheddar cheese (about 1/4 inch thick and 3-4 inches wide)
- Nonstick cooking spray or parchment paper (as needed)
- 12 to 14 slices sandwich pickles (drained and patted dry)
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 2 slices tomato
- 4 slices deli turkey or chicken
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly coat it with nonstick cooking spray.
- Arrange 4 cheddar cheese slices on the prepared sheet, spacing them well apart. Evenly layer pickle slices on each cheese slice, overlapping them to cover most of the surface.
- Place another cheddar slice atop each pickle layer, gently pressing down to encapsulate the pickles. Bake for 7 to 8 minutes until the cheese melts and edges turn golden. Let them cool for 5 minutes to set before adding your preferred fillings.
Notes
These buns are best served immediately while warm and crispy; the texture degrades when allowed to sit too long.
