- 2 slices sourdough or multigrain bread
- 1 medium pear, sliced
- 1 medium apple, sliced
- 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Caramelize the onions by heating a pan over medium heat, adding butter and onions, and cooking until golden brown for about 15 minutes.
- Assemble the sandwich by layering cheese, sliced apples, pears, and caramelized onions on one slice of bread. Season with salt and pepper, top with another slice of cheese and the remaining bread.
- Grill the sandwich in the same pan for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
Notes
For a vegan option, use dairy-free cheese and vegan butter. This sandwich pairs beautifully with tomato soup, sweet potato fries, or a mixed green salad.
