- 1 packet Taco seasoning
- 2/3 cup Tomato sauce or salsa
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 8 Hard taco shells
- 2 cups Shredded cheese (variety of your choice)
- 1 cup Shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup Diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup Diced red onion
- 2 tablespoons Chopped cilantro (optional)
- Sour cream (optional) to serve
- Guacamole (optional) to serve
- Jalapeño slices (optional) to serve
- Hot sauce (optional) to serve
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and arrange the taco shells upright in a baking dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground turkey and diced onion until browned; drain excess fat. Add minced garlic and taco seasoning, stirring for about one minute.
- Pour in the tomato sauce and simmer for five minutes.
- Spoon the seasoned turkey mixture into each taco shell and sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tacos are golden.
- Finish with fresh toppings like shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro, and serve with optional sour cream or guacamole.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, swap ground turkey for black beans or lentils. Experiment with different cheese blends for added flavor.
