Ingredients

  • 1 small Onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 packet Taco seasoning
  • 2/3 cup Tomato sauce or salsa
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 8 Hard taco shells
  • 2 cups Shredded cheese (variety of your choice)
  • 1 cup Shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup Diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup Diced red onion
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped cilantro (optional)
  • Sour cream (optional) to serve
  • Guacamole (optional) to serve
  • Jalapeño slices (optional) to serve
  • Hot sauce (optional) to serve

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and arrange the taco shells upright in a baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground turkey and diced onion until browned; drain excess fat. Add minced garlic and taco seasoning, stirring for about one minute.
  3. Pour in the tomato sauce and simmer for five minutes.
  4. Spoon the seasoned turkey mixture into each taco shell and sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  5. Bake for 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tacos are golden.
  6. Finish with fresh toppings like shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro, and serve with optional sour cream or guacamole.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, swap ground turkey for black beans or lentils. Experiment with different cheese blends for added flavor.
