Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3/4 cup salted butter (room temperature)
  • 5 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups dark brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 36 pecan halves (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Make the Crust: Cream together the room temperature salted butter and cream cheese until well combined. Gradually add the all-purpose flour until the dough is smooth.
  2. Prepare the Filling: Mix the dark brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, maple extract, and finely chopped pecans until well incorporated.
  3. Assemble and Bake: Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Divide the crust mixture into 36 portions and place into muffin cups. Chill for 15 minutes. Press the dough into the muffin cavities, fill with the prepared filling, and top each with a pecan half. Bake for about 18 minutes, until golden brown.

Notes

Serving suggestions include pairing with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. You can also use a whole grain flour for a healthier version.
