Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans.
- Brew Earl Grey tea with the tea bags in a cup of boiling water; let steep for about five minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about three minutes.
- Incorporate the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture, alternating with the cooled tea, until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in their pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
