Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the buttermilk and stir gently until just combined.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and pat it down to about three-quarters of an inch thick.
- Using a round cutter, cut out the scones, placing them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush tops with a beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
