Instructions
- Prepare the yeast: Combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Combine wet ingredients: Add melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract; mix well.
- Form the dough: Stir in flour and salt. Knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Add fruits and nuts: Incorporate candied fruits and optional nuts evenly.
- First rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
- Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for about 35 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool completely.
- Prepare the glaze: Mix powdered sugar with 1–2 tablespoons milk or water until thick and pourable.
- Apply the glaze: Drizzle generously over the cooled loaf and allow to set.
Notes
Let the bread cool fully before glazing to prevent melting. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
