Instructions

  1. Prepare the yeast: Combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Combine wet ingredients: Add melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract; mix well.
  3. Form the dough: Stir in flour and salt. Knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Add fruits and nuts: Incorporate candied fruits and optional nuts evenly.
  5. First rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for about 35 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool completely.
  7. Prepare the glaze: Mix powdered sugar with 1–2 tablespoons milk or water until thick and pourable.
  8. Apply the glaze: Drizzle generously over the cooled loaf and allow to set.
