Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Gradually add in the all-purpose flour and salt, mixing until combined.
  4. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  5. Spread the cherry pie filling over the dough layer.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
  7. While baking, prepare the almond glaze by mixing powdered sugar, almond extract, and milk until smooth.
  8. Allow the bars to cool and drizzle with the almond glaze before cutting into squares.
