Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your round cake pan.
- Melt the chopped dark chocolate and unsalted butter together in a double boiler until smooth; allow to cool slightly.
- Beat the egg yolks with granulated sugar until light and fluffy, then mix in the melted chocolate and vanilla extract.
- Whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form and gently fold it into the chocolate mixture.
- In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form, then fold them gently into the chocolate mixture.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes until set but still slightly jiggly in the middle.
- Cool the cake before removing it from the pan and dust with cocoa powder or powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
For a gluten-free option, substitute all-purpose flour with almond flour. Ensure to use high-quality dark chocolate for the best flavor.
