Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 Large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup Maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup Chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and maple syrup until the mixture is smooth.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined, folding in nuts if using.
  6. Drop dollops of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the centers look slightly underdone.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days. You can freeze them for up to three months.
