Description
This homemade Caramel Latte recipe gives you the perfect balance of bold espresso, creamy milk, and sweet caramel, whether you prefer it hot and cozy or iced and refreshing.
Ingredients
1 shot espresso (or 1/4 cup strong coffee)
3/4 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
1–2 tablespoons caramel sauce (for hot) or caramel syrup (for iced)
Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
Ice cubes (for iced version)
Instructions
- Prepare the espresso: Brew a fresh shot of espresso or make 1/4 cup of strong coffee using your preferred method (espresso machine, moka pot, or French press).
- Heat the milk (for hot latte): In a small saucepan, warm the milk with caramel sauce. Whisk until smooth and slightly frothy. A frother, whisk, or tightly sealed jar can all work for frothing.
- Assemble the hot latte: Pour the hot caramel milk over the espresso in a mug. Drizzle additional caramel sauce on top and add whipped cream if desired.
- Chill the espresso (for iced latte): Let the brewed coffee cool for a few minutes before using in the iced version to avoid melting the ice too quickly.
- Mix and serve the iced latte: In a tall glass, add ice cubes. Mix chilled milk with caramel syrup and pour over the ice. Add the cooled espresso, stir gently, and top with whipped cream and caramel drizzle if desired.
Notes
Use caramel sauce for a rich hot latte or caramel syrup for smooth blending in iced drinks. Oat milk adds a silky texture and froths well. Skip the whipped cream for a lighter version. You can also experiment with flavored syrups like blueberry for a unique twist.
