Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in the milk until combined.
- Whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
- Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool completely on a rack before frosting.
- Mix caramel sauce with softened butter and powdered sugar to frost and top with crushed caramel candies.
Notes
Ensure cakes are completely cool before frosting. For a different twist, use dark chocolate instead of caramel.
