- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional add-ins: Chocolate chips, dried fruit, nuts, etc.

- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, avoiding overmixing.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and pat it into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut into wedges or rounds.
- Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Notes
For a healthier version, substitute whole wheat flour for all-purpose flour or Greek yogurt for heavy cream. Experiment with add-ins like zests, spices, or seasonal ingredients.
