- 4 large onions
- 4 cups water
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional herbs for garnish
Instructions
- Fill a large pot with 4 cups of water and add the salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Peel the onions and trim the ends for even cooking.
- Once the water is boiling, add the onions and reduce heat to medium, boiling for about 30 minutes until tender.
- Remove onions from the pot and let cool slightly.
- Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with black pepper.
- Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve warm.
Notes
Store in an airtight container for up to three days. Reheat gently on the stove or in the microwave.
